Great location to the old town and shopping area of Bologna. Staff were extremely helpful, friendly and welcoming. Hotel was clean, modern and well maintained. Rooms were spacious - we were a family of 5 travelling. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the Hotel Metropolitan for 5 nights in October 2013. It was our first time in Bologna and the hotel proved to be the perfect base for visiting the historic centre. It is in a side street off Via Independenza and is very easy to find since there is a huge neon sign on the corner. There are two bars a few metres from the front door which are good spots for a drink and people-watching before going out for the evening meal.
The hotel is very bright and fresh, perhaps a little clinical, but the staff are very welcoming and helpful. Our room (210) was a good size and very comfortable and clean. There was plenty of space for our clothes and other bits and pieces. The bathroom was spacious and well equipped. Since it had a window that opened there was never any problem with steam and condensation. Despite the proximity of the two local bars and the main street the room was very quiet and our sleep was never disturbed - the room did not look out on the street.
Breakfast was excellent with a wide selection of cheese, meats, pastries and fruit. The breakfast room was very spacious with plenty of room for everyone.
We would recommend the hotel to anyone wishing to stay centrally in Bologna and would certainly stay there again when we return to Bologna which we will have to do since the city has so much to offer the visitor.Mi sono piaciuti: We liked its central location. I picked this hotel from other trip advisor comments and I wasn't disappointed! The hotel is tucked in a little street off the main drag and is reached by the airport bus which leaves you off nearly at its door for the price of 6euros...the train station is a ten minute walk away...the modern hotel is small,clean ,welcoming,rooms are very clean with modern bathrooms and free wifi..and air conditioning! Everything is nearby..restaurants, shopping,university,ancient sites and all within walking distance..no need for taxis. Breakfasts are superb..simple,fresh fruits,pastries etc all served by friendly staff, ,,and most important this hotel is not expensive..I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.Mi sono piaciuti: Minimalism and simple basic policies to make the client feel comfortable and welcome work at the metropolitan......clean..modern..good breakfasts.

The hotel is very well situated, off the main road and almost directly opposite the Aerobus stop for visitors arriving from the airport, but within 5 minutes walk of the Piazza Maggiore and a similar walking distance to a good variety of restaurants and shops. The hotel was very clean and comfortable, the room fine with quite a firm bed and also had tea/coffee making facilities (not listed in amenities but very useful nonetheless). Our room was on the second floor and faced on to the street, and there was some noise with the windows open in the evenings, but no more than would be expected from a city-centre location in the week: sleeping was never a problem. There was an internal courtyard accessible from the second floor which seemed to be very quiet. The staff were pleasant and helpful, both at reception and in the breakfast room, and the breakfast had a good choice, although the breakfast room could get quite busy at times. M family and I had a really wonderful time staying at the Metropolitan! The hotel's central location makes it breeze to see all the key sites in Bologna! The hotel owners and staff are all very helpful and friendly, giving good advice from where else to go, shop, eat... recommending good local restaurants and giving good information. Would defnitely stay at the hotel again and a sure recommendation to anyone visiting Bologna!
The lobby and exterior of this hotel were what I would have expected from a much more expensive place. Hotel Metropolitan is beautifully presented inside and out. The staff were very helpful, and we had a wonderful stay. The location was excellent, and we were able to walk everywhere in Bologna easily. We had a brilliant time here, and I would recommend it to anyone.

Ticks all the boxes for the ideal city break experience. Comfortable rooms. Excellent location. More than adequate breakfast offering. Special mention to Roberto, for a welcome which was as warm and genuinely friendly as anyone could wish to have; there are quite a few positive comments about him, and they are spot on, because he is a gentleman and a credit to this fine establishment. Thanks also to Michael, for his helpfulness. Bologna is a beautiful city, up there with the best Italy has to offer. We will be back, and we will look no further than this hotel.
