Travelers, my family was fortunate enough to find rooms at Metropolitan in Bologna last month in April 2014. With a school reunion overlapping with an Italian holiday and Vermeer exhibit, the hotel was booked solid. Sara was the concierge on staff and she is PERFECTION. She speaks English and is connected to every restaurant in town if you need that...
Although we had visited Bologna previously, we had never spent the night. We wanted to stay in a central location, near the train since we were arriving by train. This hotel was perfectly located - an easy walk from the train station and blocks from all of the local sightseeing and wonderful restaurants. The staff was very warm and welcoming....

The hotel is an easy 10 min walk down Independence street from the train station. There were many cafes, restaurants, and shopping opportunities nearby. The room was very comfortable with nice bathroom amenities. Breakfast was very good with a variety of cold meats, hard boiled eggs, fruit, cakes, yogurt, breads , juices and coffee. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful; the reception staff spoke English (if necessary). Great location and within easy waking distance of key attractions as well as food markets and restaurants. A quick walk from the train station and only 10 minute taxi ride to the airport. The staff are very friendly and very helpful, providing maps and additional information when you arrive, so you can just get on with the sightseeing.
