Staff is amazingly helpful!

We loved the location walking distance from the downtown Bologna area. We came to visit our daughter who could walk over from her apt. We stayed several days, left to ski in the Dolomites for 3 days, and came back to stay again. We were able to leave two bags in storage there and they were already in our room when we returned. We stayed in two different three person suites and both were great. We got taxis arranged, restaurant recommendations, and felt appreciated.Mi sono piaciuti: The staff is amazing and so helpful. My husband needed medical attention and they helped by allowing him to take his breakfast in his room.
Non mi sono piaciuti: Can't think of a thing!

Our highest recommendations

We were very pleased with our stay at this hotel – It’s localized near the historical centre, only a 5-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore and 100 meters from the beautiful San Domenico church. The room was clean and comfortable, as was the rest of the hotel. There was a breakfast buffet, which had all necessities needed for a long day of sightseeing – strong coffee, fresh fruit, bread, meat and cheese. They have a beautiful roof terrace overlooking the center of the city, where you can enjoy a well-made gin and tonic while studying the Asinelli Tower or the San Pedro cathedral. In the evening they even have live jazz! All this would be well worth the rather modest cost of the rooms, but what really stands out was the helpfulness and kindness of the staff. They truly did everything to make our stay as enjoyable and comfortable as possible, and their restaurant recommendations were spot on! Hotel Touring was a memorable part of a memorable vacation. We would certainly recommend it to everyone looking for a central, affordable place to stay.

Clean, cool, great roof top deck & pleasant staff

I stayed only one night in the heat of July. The staff greeted me pleasantly and had accommodated my request for an early check in (noon) with no issues. They offered me an upgrade to a larger room for a nominal fee, but since I was only there one night and had no intention of spending my time in Italy inside, I declined. The single room was very adequate size for the double bed, with plenty of room to walk on one side and in front. There was a very large window letting in nice light. I never felt claustrophobic. There was plenty of space around the desk and a small, modern refrigerator. The air condition worked great! Within minutes of turning it on, the room was cool. I had to turn it down. The bathroom was quite large and immaculate – the tile was almost sparkling and the towels and linens pure white. The bed was very, very firm, but I have found that true all over Italy, so I didn’t take any “points” off for that. The roof top terrace really makes this hotel a standout – a do not miss. The hotel is on the opposite end of the old town from the train station, so if you have a lot or large baggage, you will want to take a taxi (mine was 8 Euro). Later that same day, I did walk almost to the train station and it took me about 20 minutes. It is very close to the main plaza and sights and there are many good restaurants close by. Also, a grocery store right around the corner. I left before breakfast the following morning (7:30am), so I cannot comment.Mi sono piaciuti: Roof top terrace, air conditioning in room.
Non mi sono piaciuti: The staff could offer up things to see and do near by.

Superb value from a really comfortable hotel

Stayed for three nights recently and had a great time. Hotel is tucked away, but only a few minutes walk from the centre of Bologna. Staff are all very friendly and the breakfast is superb with a good selection to choose from. The weather was very, very hot while we were there but fortunately the air conditioning in the bedroom did the trick and we had a comfortable nights sleep. Unfortunately, the rest of the hotel (particularly reception) was hot as the air conditioning in the public areas wasn't functioning. Other than that, the hotel was excellent and we would have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone.Mi sono piaciuti: Location, breakfast, service
Non mi sono piaciuti: The lift was a bit cosy![extra]Really good location to explore Bologna[/extra]

Charming and Personable Hotel

This is a small, well maintained, updated hotel. It is tucked back on a tiny side street so could be easy to miss. The service we received was top-notch. The concierge/reception provided a local map, suggestions of sights to see and recommendations for local restaurants, especially for the Sunday night when not much is open in the area. They also assisted with booking a tour to local area attractions that included a balsamic vinegar estate, parmesan cheese factory, a local winery, the Ducati factory and a wonderful regional restaurant. The one draw back is that it is a little off the beaten path and not conveniently located to the train station. We were able to walk to everything we wanted to see from the hotel but needed to take a cab to and from the train station.

Good Location, Pleasant Stay

I chose this hotel for its proximity to U. of Bologna's music venues, San Giovanni in Monte and Santa Lucia, where the 9th International Conference on Music Perception and Cognition was held in late August, 2006. It was also a few minutes walk to the main city center, with its shops and museums. The room and bed were small but perfectly adequate for a single room. The bath was very nice. It's a small hotel (about 5 stories) with a very small elevator (holds 3), but with a beautiful rooftop view of the southern end of Bolgna. The staff was very friendly although their English was limited, as is typical in Bolgna. For a small fee it has a wireless internet connection in the lobby. The breakfast was limited, non-varying, but adequate good quality. The AC worked very well; it was temperature controlled and quiet. My only misgiving is that the TV was just a few channels strictly in Italian and there were no pay-per-view movies available. I didn't see any onsite restaurant, but, then, there are plenty of restaurants around. I made a mistake of moving to a different hotel on my last night to be closer to the airport for my 6 AM flight. Given the cab surcharges and lack of city traffic that early, it would have worked just as well had I stayed put at the Touring. Checkout from their 24 hour desk was extremely easy.

«A small modern hotel that worked well»

Mi sono piaciuti: The room was very efficient, with a good kettle, power points in the right places, a shower that worked easily, individual temperature control for the room & shutters to block out light at night ensuring a peaceful sleep. Wifi was fast , staff were friendly & helpful. As well the new breakfast room provided a high quality continental breakfast. The roof terrace had lovely views & would be great in warm weather. It was a short & interesting walk to the main piazza.
Non mi sono piaciuti: Decor was modern & pleasant but perhaps only a touch bland.
